Sheriff believes new video may reveal whereabouts of Texas teen missing since Christmas Eve

A Texas teenage girl, Camila Mendoza Olmos, has been missing since Christmas Eve, and authorities have obtained new dashboard camera footage that may shed light on her disappearance. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office reported that Mendoza Olmos, 19, was last seen on Wednesday morning. Initial security camera footage showed her searching her car in the driveway around 7 a.m.

During a news conference on Monday, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar revealed that a new dash cam video had been acquired from an individual who passed a woman walking alone on Wednesday morning, believed to be Mendoza Olmos. The footage was captured a few blocks away from her home, and although the sheriff could not confirm with complete certainty that it was Mendoza Olmos, he mentioned that the clothing description matched.

The video is being released in the hopes that others may have collected similar footage. Salazar emphasized that this was the most promising lead authorities had at that time. Efforts to locate Mendoza Olmos have been ongoing, with sheriff’s deputies and volunteers working tirelessly to search for her. Her mother mentioned that Mendoza Olmos usually goes for a morning walk, and concern arose when she failed to return within a reasonable period.

Various agencies have joined the search, including the FBI providing technical assistance and the Department of Homeland Security monitoring border crossings and international travel. Sheriff Salazar indicated that they are leaving no stone unturned, even considering the possibility that the case could lead them beyond U.S. borders.

Salazar confirmed that Mendoza Olmos was not held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, despite her being a U.S. citizen. He explained that this was a personal concern for him, ensuring that she was not detained at any federal facility. The only belongings she took with her were her car keys and possibly her driver’s license.

The community is urged to come forward with any information that could assist in locating Mendoza Olmos. Authorities are working diligently to piece together the events leading up to her disappearance and are hopeful that the dash cam footage will provide crucial clues.
