Haviah Mighty & Shantel May have reason to celebrate as their collaborative track, “Lucky,” continues to climb the Billboard Canada Airplay charts. The R&B hip-hop hit has now secured a coveted position within the top 30 of the CHR/Top 40 chart. Additionally, the Vancouver sister duo, Fionn, has also made waves with their second track on the Modern Rock chart.

“Lucky” entered the scene at No. 30 on the Billboard Canada CHR/Top 40 Airplay Chart and has since peaked at No. 28 after spending a little over a month on the chart. Following Mighty’s previous release “OK!” which was widely embraced last year, “Lucky” maintains the positive momentum. This musical masterpiece, a blend of two distinct voices, merges classic hip-hop beats, harmonious vocals, and live instrumentation.

The song exudes warmth and groove, with Mighty’s effortless coolness shining through as she delivers her signature confident and open-hearted rap style. May adds her own touch with smooth vocals on the second verse, perfectly complementing Mighty’s edge. Together, they delve into the nuances of love and luck, creating a harmonious blend of their unique talents.

For Mighty, this chart success marks a significant milestone in her career. For over a decade, she has independently released her work, inspiring other independent artists to find success without major label backing. In a recent social media post celebrating the track’s chart placement, Mighty expressed disbelief at achieving such recognition in the Canadian top 40 radio scene.

The Fionn sisters have also made an impression on the charts with their track “I Put My Makeup On,” which has landed at No. 32 on the Modern Rock Airplay chart. Following the success of their previous song “Blow,” which reached the top spot last October, “I Put My Makeup On” maintains their indie-pop signature sound. The song captures a melancholic essence with dreamy synths and meaningful lyrics reflecting on societal norms related to beauty standards.

Drawing attention to the Canadian music scene, artists like BAD CHILD, Brock Philipps, and Jade LeMac are making their mark on various Airplay charts. Canadian sensation Taylor Swift continues her dominance on multiple charts with “The Fate of Ophelia” claiming the No. 1 spot in several categories. In the country genre, Tucker Wetmore’s “3,2,1” and Boy Golden’s “Suffer” maintain their positions at the top.

The diverse range of Canadian talent showcased on the Airplay charts highlights the country’s rich music culture and the artists’ ability to captivate audiences across different genres. From hip-hop to indie-pop, artists are paving the way for success on the charts, proving that Canadian musicians have a significant impact on the global music scene.
