A notorious pop-punk band is gearing up to unveil their first new album in almost two decades. Mike Davenport, bassist for The Ataris, revealed in an interview with Punk Rock Philosophy that the new album is complete and is set to be released in either March or April of 2026. The album will feature their latest single “Car Song,” which was dropped in May and has been generating excitement among fans.

Davenport expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming release, stating that the band is eager for their audience to experience the new material. He emphasized the dedication of singer-guitarist Kris Roe, highlighting Roe’s commitment to pouring his heart and soul into the record. The band members have reunited after facing several extended hiatuses over the years, but the global Covid-19 pandemic served as a catalyst for their resurgence.

Reflecting on the band’s journey, Davenport noted that 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of The Ataris since their formation in 1996. Despite the challenges and setbacks they’ve encountered, the band is fuelled by a renewed sense of purpose following the pandemic-induced disruptions. Davenport described the band’s current drive as a mission reminiscent of their early beginnings and emphasized their commitment to creating new music and delivering stellar performances on stage.

Known for their distinctive blend of punk rock, pop-punk, and alternative rock, The Ataris rose to prominence during the MySpace and Warped Tour era. Their discography includes five albums released between 1997 and 2007, featuring popular tracks such as “In This Diary,” “San Dimas High School Football Rules,” “So Long, Astoria,” and a cover of Don Henley’s “The Boys of Summer.” In the subsequent decade, the band continued to produce music, unveiling demos, live recordings, and a collection of previously unreleased songs.

Despite facing setbacks like canceled shows due to Roe’s back injury, The Ataris have lined up an extensive list of tour dates for 2026 to the delight of their loyal fan base. Tickets for their upcoming shows are available for purchase on platforms like StubHub and Seat Geek, offering supporters the opportunity to experience the band’s electrifying performances live.

As anticipation builds for the release of their long-awaited album, The Ataris are poised to make a triumphant return to the music scene, showcasing their unwavering passion for creating and sharing their music with the world. With a renewed sense of purpose and energy, the band is set to captivate audiences once again with their distinctive sound and heartfelt performances.
