Sugar, Bob Mould’s ’90s rock band, reunites after 31 years for upcoming tour
Sugar, a ’90s rock band led by singer-guitarist Bob Mould of Hüsker Dü fame, has recently announced its reunion, marking the band’s first tour in over 31 years after being disbanded. The group is set to perform at the Basilica Hudson in Hudson, New York, on October 18, as part of their 2026 tour dates. For fans eager to attend these shows, they can RSVP on sugarcopperblue.com to receive presale details, which will be accessible starting January 27. Ticket information and access codes will be shared directly with those who sign up for updates.
The decision to reunite and embark on this tour comes after Sugar initially announced four sold-out shows in New York and London. Additionally, Bob Mould of Sugar released a new track titled “Long Live Love,” produced by Butch Vig of Garbage, offering fans a taste of the band’s new music.
Reflecting on the creation of “Long Live Love,” Mould shared, “I wrote ‘Long Live Love’ in 2007 while living in Washington D.C. during the George W. Bush era. It was during my DJ phase with Blowoff, where I was still composing pop songs on the guitar. ‘Garbage 2.0′ is a significant album for me, so it’s natural that ‘Long Live Love’ bears semblance to a misplaced Garbage song!”
Originally from Upstate New York, Bob Mould formed Sugar with bassist David Barbe and drummer Malcolm Travis in the early ’90s. The trio released two acclaimed albums, “Copper Blue” in 1992 and “File Under: Easy Listening” in 1994, before Mould embarked on a solo career in 1995. The chemistry between Mould, Barbe, and Travis quickly became apparent when Sugar was formed, with hits like “Helpless,” “Your Favorite Thing,” and their music video for “If I Can’t Change Your Mind” gaining popularity on MTV and the Alternative Airplay charts.
As a native of rural Franklin County, Malone, New York, Mould’s journey in music began when he discovered punk rock culture through magazines and television, having to travel to nearby cities like Plattsburgh, Montreal, or Burlington to experience it personally. His passion for music blossomed when his father took him to buy a Ramones album for his 16th birthday from a local record store, inspiring him to pursue a career in music.
Sugar’s tour dates include various cities in the UK and Europe, with a highlight on the show in Hudson, New York. The band’s upcoming performances promise to be a nostalgic and exciting experience for fans eager to relive the ’90s rock era with one of their beloved bands.
