Suspected stalking and arson incidents at elderly woman’s home caught on video

In a recent incident near Craig and Walnut in Las Vegas, surveillance footage captured a masked individual defacing an elderly woman’s home with graffiti and pouring a mysterious liquid outside the property. The word “warning” was found on the house in November, with suspicions that the liquid might have been gasoline due to its distinct odor. Thankfully, the person in the video did not set the liquid on fire at that time.

Unfortunately, the situation escalated in January when someone poured a similar liquid near the home and lit it on fire. The elderly woman was caught on camera attempting to extinguish the flames, demonstrating immense courage and resilience. While she thankfully remained unharmed, the incident left a lasting impact on her emotions and sense of security.

Russell McLaren, the prime suspect in these acts, made a court appearance recently, where the daughter of the elderly woman, Melonie Keeran-Bolen, joined via video conference. Expressing her emotions, Keeran-Bolen revealed the inner turmoil she felt during the proceedings, holding back the urge to confront McLaren directly. She openly expressed her disdain for him, labeling him as “worthless” and expressing a desire for him to face justice behind bars.

Keeran-Bolen has since prepared a victim impact statement, channeling her emotions and questions about the possible consequences of McLaren’s actions. She questions how he would have felt if he had taken her mother’s life, emphasizing the gravity of his actions and the fear instilled in her mother, even with McLaren in custody on a $100,000 bond.

McLaren faces serious charges related to aggravated stalking and arson, along with other incidents involving the same property. Previous reports shed light on bizarre interactions between McLaren and Keeran-Bolen through a Ring camera, where he mentioned seeking a person named Brady, who was Keeran-Bolen’s deceased brother. McLaren’s erratic behavior and statements about the property being part of a horror movie added new layers of concern to the ongoing situation.

Neighborhood residents played a crucial role in apprehending McLaren during one of his visits to the property, leading to his arrest. The arrest report mentioned the presence of a machete and containers suspected to contain gasoline, providing further evidence of his intentions. As McLaren’s legal proceedings continue, with a preliminary hearing slated for February, the community remains vigilant to prevent any further incidents of harassment or endangerment.

The swift actions of vigilant community members and law enforcement personnel have been instrumental in addressing this unsettling situation, highlighting the importance of unity and solidarity in times of adversity. Despite the traumatic events faced by the elderly woman and her family, their resilience and determination to seek justice serve as a testament to the unwavering human spirit in the face of adversity.
