Exclusive debut of Cape Crush’s new music video for “Calm & Delivered” on Wanna Hear It Records.
Life lessons often come from unexpected encounters, like casual chats on a porch with strangers. These moments can offer fresh perspectives and insights that stay with us long after the conversation ends. Cape Crush vocalist and guitarist Ali Lipman recalls a conversation in Richmond during her early 20s that left a lasting impact on her. This encounter inspired the band’s latest video for their song “Calm & Delivered,” directed and edited by Cait Brown and filmed in Newbury.
Lipman explains that the song is about feeling pressured to maintain emotional composure in a chaotic world. Drawing from her experiences as a parent and a woman navigating societal expectations, the track encourages listeners to embrace their inner strength and confront their emotions without fear. The message of the song reflects the advice Lipman received years ago to let go and break free from societal constraints.
Cape Crush, composed of members deeply rooted in the New England DIY and hardcore scenes, incorporates elements of emo, post-hardcore, and alt-rock in their music. The band’s sound is influenced by iconic bands like The Get Up Kids and The Weakerthans, with a hint of that dog. and The Breeders woven into their energetic performances. “Calm & Delivered” serves as the lead single for Cape Crush’s upcoming debut album, “Place Memory,” slated for release on May 1 via Wanna Hear It Records.
The band’s journey began with their 2023 EP, “San Souci,” followed by two releases in 2025, including the summer single “Blank Wall” and a winter split with Good June and Impossible Dog. These efforts culminated in a nomination for Punk/Hardcore Artist of the Year at the Boston Music Awards and a string of festival performances from Montreal to Florida. Recorded at God City Studio and produced by Zach Weeks, “Calm & Delivered” showcases the band’s signature upbeat power-emo sound, characterized by dynamic melodies and infectious hooks.
For Cape Crush, the creative process is a collaborative effort among friends who share a passion for music. The band’s tight-knit community of fellow musicians provides a source of inspiration and support that fuels their artistic endeavors.
