Video shows individual spitting at federal agents, vandalizing SUV shortly before…
A recently released video seems to depict Alex Pretti engaging with federal agents in the days leading up to his fatal shooting during enforcement operations in Minneapolis. The footage, publicized by The News Movement and supposedly filmed on January 13, captures a man who bears a resemblance to Pretti, complete with a beard, glasses, and attire akin to what he wore at the time of his demise.
In the video, the man can be observed yelling and spitting at federal agents while also kicking the taillight of a government SUV, ultimately breaking it. Through profane language and offensive hand gestures, he provokes the agents, who promptly exit the vehicle, approach the man, and swiftly bring him to the ground. Concurrently, other agents deploy pepper balls and tear gas towards a nearby group, aiming to disperse the disturbance. The man, although facing considerable aggression, is eventually let go. Upon moving away from the agents, a firearm visible in his waistband raises concerns.
Despite the potentially dangerous situation, the man opts to stay close to other protesters who are confronting federal officers. Pretti’s family has verified his presence in the video, emphasizing that a week prior, Pretti was subjected to violence by a contingent of ICE agents. Steve Schleicher, the Pretti family’s lawyer, asserts that the preceding incident could not justify Pretti’s fateful encounter with ICE agents.
A military veteran and ICU nurse at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Pretti faced a tragic outcome after Border Patrol agents fatally shot him while he documented immigration enforcement practices in Minneapolis. Footage of the incident suggests that Pretti intervened to aid a woman knocked to the ground by agents before being targeted with a chemical irritant, wrestled to the pavement, and assaulted. Subsequently, agents discovered a 9 mm pistol on Pretti; shortly after, multiple rounds of gunfire ensued, leading to his demise.
The situation unfolded during a period of palpable tension in Minneapolis, marked by escalating clashes between federal agents conducting enforcement operations and anti-ICE protestors. This incident, the second fatality involving federal immigration agents in recent weeks in Minneapolis, has illuminated the strained relationship between law enforcement and portions of the community.
