Crown Lands, Canadian prog duo, reveal new album ‘Apocalypse’ featuring 19-minute title track
Canadian prog rock duo Crown Lands is gearing up to unleash their latest studio album, ‘Apocalypse,’ set to drop on May 15th, 2026. This announcement follows their previous releases, including the award-winning self-titled debut and ‘Fearless.’ Recently, they delved into instrumental music with ‘Ritual I’ and ‘Ritual II,’ which earned them a Juno nomination. Now, with ‘Apocalypse,’ they are pushing boundaries to deliver their most ambitious work yet.
The album signifies a significant shift musically and creatively for Crown Lands. After gaining confidence from completing their previous records in their home studio, the duo decided to take control of the production process. Guitarist, bassist, and keyboardist Kevin Comeau expressed, “That record gave us the confidence to realize we could make a Crown Lands album in our own space, without a major-label budget or a big, fancy studio.” This newfound confidence is evident in ‘Apocalypse,’ with most of the album being written and recorded in their familiar workspace. To enhance key moments, Crown Lands collaborated with producers Nick Raskulinecz and David Bottrill.
Conceptually, ‘Apocalypse’ is a narrative experience designed for the classic album format, with the 19-minute title track serving as the centerpiece. Drummer and vocalist Cody Bowles shared insights about the track, stating, “With long-form songs, it always starts with the music.” The band pieced together ‘Apocalypse’ from a combination of old and new riffs, ensuring a seamless flow from one section to the next. This release follows a storyline connected to their previous albums, ‘Fearless’ and ‘Ritual,’ shedding light on the events leading up to their narrative journey.
In addition to the digital album, ‘Apocalypse’ will be available as a limited CD edition and several vinyl options, including Gatefold Neon Yellow LP and Limited Gatefold Neon Green LP. Fans can already pre-order the album for an early taste of Crown Lands’ latest musical endeavor.
Furthermore, Crown Lands will be hitting the road for a series of tour dates across Canada, starting on February 28th, with a special stop at Cruise to the Edge in Miami, Florida. Fans should mark their calendars for an immersive live experience with Crown Lands in various cities, showcasing the band’s dynamic performance style.
Overall, ‘Apocalypse’ promises to be a groundbreaking release for Crown Lands, solidifying their position as pioneers in the progressive rock genre. With a compelling narrative, intricate instrumentation, and immersive production, the duo is set to captivate listeners and take them on a transformative musical journey. Stay tuned for the arrival of ‘Apocalypse’ on May 15th, 2026, as Crown Lands continue to push the boundaries of their creative vision.
