Damaged Bug Unveils New Album ‘ZUZAX’ with Track “End Of The War”
John Dwyer, known for his work with OSEES, unveiled the latest album titled “Abomination Revealed At Last,” and also collaborated with David Barbarossa from Bow Wow Wow to form the new band Chime Oblivion last year. However, he has recently revealed plans for ZUZAX, marking his return to the Damaged Bug project since the release of “Bug On Yonkers” in 2020.
Reflecting on this new venture, Dwyer shared insights into the genesis of the album, expressing how approximately 40 unfinished Damaged Bug tracks accumulated over the past seven years had been left neglected. This situation, albeit uncommon for him, was due to the myriad of other projects and life events that kept diverting his attention. Dwyer candidly admitted that initially, he struggled to discern a cohesive thread connecting these disparate tunes. Nevertheless, against the backdrop of current world events, he believed it was imperative for artists to imbue their creations with personal messages shrouded in escapism. For Dwyer, ZUZAX proved to be an opportunity to declutter his creative space, rejuvenate his mind, and stave off life’s pressures. He described the album as a blend of jubilation and melancholy, delving into themes of hope and forgiveness, emotions he aspires to cultivate in his own life. Its sonic landscape is characterized as abstract yet catchy, merging elements of distortion and sweetness, mirroring his current mindset of feeling distorted yet optimistic.
