Hatebreed Guitarist Frank Novinec Announces New Album Release in 2026, Discusses Songwriting
Hatebreed guitarist Frank Novinec affirmed that the band’s upcoming album is set to be released in the year 2026, following the successful reception of their recent single, “Make The Demons Obey.” In a recent conversation with Hardlore, Novinec mentioned that most of the new record has already been finalized. “Coming out this year, yeah. Most of it’s pretty much — I mean, it’s done,” he noted.
This season, artists have greater freedom in their release strategies, allowing them to drop singles before the full album is out. The ability to release singles before the entire album is available gives artists the flexibility to refine songs or potentially add new material. Novinec emphasized, “The nice thing about the way things are rolled out now… you can drop a single even if you have the whole record done, and be, like, ‘All right, now there’s all this time,’ where you can really review what you’ve done and… even make another song.”
Following the positive reception of “Make The Demons Obey,” Novinec hinted at another single release on the horizon, perhaps accompanied by an official music video. “We love the song. As far as the band’s concerned, we’re real happy with it… We’ll probably leak another one here soon. And there’ll probably be proper videos coming after that,” Novinec shared.
Traditionally, founding members Chris and Jamey composed the band’s music. Novinec admitted that his contributions to the group’s songwriting have been minor. Reflecting on his role within the band, Novinec mentioned, “No. I think I have one riff on one song. It was always Chris and Jamey writing the music. That’s it. From day one, it’s Chris and Jamey. They’re the guys [who have written all the music] from day one, for the most part.”
Following the exit of bassist Chris Beattie, Novinec stated that the band’s songwriting dynamics have shifted somewhat. Guitarist Wayne Lozinak and other members are now more involved, offering suggestions for song arrangements. “We all have our ideas about songs. Songs are presented, and then we say, ‘Hey, I think we should change this,’ ‘Hey, I think this riff should go longer.’ I’m not a groove dude like that when it comes to writing… I’m not somebody that’s trying to show up and break something that’s not broken,” Novinec explained.
As the band gears up for the release of their upcoming album in 2026, featuring their signature hardcore aggression alongside a more refined approach honed through years of experience, Hatebreed fans can anticipate a full musical onslaught.
