Mesh Releases Music Video for “Hey Stranger” from Latest Album
British electronic duo Mesh has recently released a new video single titled “Hey Stranger,” which is part of their upcoming album “The Truth Doesn’t Matter” set to be released on March 27, 2026, via Dependent Records. This single follows the release of their previous track “Exile,” and it is the thirteenth song on the 16-track album. The music video for “Hey Stranger” was directed by Kieran Gallop (GLK Media) and features Mike Evans and Madeline Griffin in the lead acting roles.
The song delves into themes of change, distance, and communication breakdown. Richard Silverthorn, the songwriter and multi-instrumentalist of the duo, explains that the track underwent various arrangements before reaching its final form. He describes the song as starting in a minimalist way and gradually building towards a climax through the addition of choir and strings. The lyrics of “Hey Stranger” explore the concepts of change and disconnection, making it relatable to many listeners.
Mark Hockings, the vocalist and lyricist of Mesh, reveals that “Hey Stranger” was initially not intended to be a main single. He mentions that he wrote the song several years ago, and after multiple revisions to the lyrics and arrangement, it evolved into something more significant than originally anticipated. Despite usually not dwelling on a single song for prolonged periods, Hockings feels that their patience with “Hey Stranger” has paid off positively.
In addition to being part of the main album, “Hey Stranger” will also be included in the bonus material of the companion disc called “The Full Truth,” which features at least two alternate versions of the track. The album, “The Truth Doesn’t Matter,” marks Mesh’s eighth studio album and their second collaborative effort with Dependent Records since their previous album, “Looking Skyward.”
Mesh has also announced an extensive European and UK tour for 2026 in support of the new album, featuring performances across various cities. The tour will kick off in Germany and the Czech Republic in April, with additional dates scheduled in the UK, Scandinavia, and at a summer open-air event in Taunton. The tour will conclude with a final show in Liberec in November.
Throughout their career, Mesh has consistently delivered a blend of electronic and alternative music, with a distinct creative split between Silverthorn, who focuses on composing the music, and Hockings, who handles the lyrics and lead vocals. The duo’s discography on Dependent Records features notable albums such as “A Perfect Solution” and “Automation Baby,” showcasing their evolution as artists. Mesh’s dedication to their craft and unique sound has solidified their position in the electronic music scene, making them a fan favorite among listeners worldwide.
