Evan Stanley and Nick Simmons are building a rock ‘n’ roll empire with Kiss – Guitar World
et Nick, I started getting a lot more motivated to do better guitar-wise. We took a day to jam, and it went well, sharing music and thoughts.
Simmons: We’ve always both been into the idea of making some type of music ’cause we both love music. So we both had that instilled in us. Now that we’re hanging out and making music, it’s just been a good environment.
With the groundwork set, Stanley and Simmons have continued to write music together. Their process involves a lot of jamming and tossing ideas back and forth, trying not to overthink things. In sessions, they’ll work with their guitars, strumming and picking until something clicks. The resulting sound is a blend of their respective musical influences, creating a unique, folk-rock style that stands out from their fathers’ iconic glam rock sound.
Although both come from rock ’n’ roll royalty, Stanley and Simmons are determined to make a name for themselves on their own terms. They acknowledge their fathers’ impact on their musical direction but are equally embracing their own identities. As Simmons puts it, “We’re trying to create something that people like. We’re not letting that affect our process. It’s more, ‘Do we like it, and does it sound good?’ It’s not, ‘Will my parents like it?’”
Despite their rock ‘n’ roll lineage, Stanley and Simmons’ modern-day folk sound has resonated with listeners and critics alike. With a growing catalog of original songs and a genuinely collaborative approach to songwriting, the duo is carving out their niche in the music industry. Their success is not merely attributed to their famous dads but to their talent, dedication, and passion for creating music that speaks to them and their audience.
As they continue to evolve as artists and musicians, Stanley and Simmons are poised to make their mark in the music industry with their unique and refreshing sound. With a nod to their fathers’ legacy and a determination to forge their path, these two talented guitarists are proving that talent, hard work, and a love for music can transcend any family legacy. So, keep an eye on Stanley/Simmons as they continue to captivate audiences and redefine what it means to be a rock ‘n’ roll dynasty in their own right.
