An 83-year-old man from Kent recently revealed that he had no clue about Taylor Swift’s fame before starring in her music video for the song Opalite. Barrie Reynolds of Capel-le-Ferne shared that he was completely unaware of the global icon’s celebrity status during the filming of the video.

Reynolds, who portrays a judge in the music video for Opalite, the second single from Swift’s album The Life of a Showgirl, expressed how his granddaughters were astonished to learn that he would be appearing alongside the renowned singer. He candidly admitted, “They were very surprised.”

His involvement in the project came about through an acting and modelling agency, and after explaining that he could not make the early morning call time by train, a taxi was sent to pick him up and take him to the north London set.

Reflecting on his realization of Swift’s identity, Reynolds shared that it was only after reading about her tour that he made the connection before filming commenced. Describing his encounter with Swift, he recalled how at the end of the shoot, he was able to take a photo with her and playfully referred to her as “Niftie Swiftie,” attributing the nickname to her agility in dancing.

In the video, Reynolds is seen holding up a scorecard during a dance-contest scene. Despite scoring Swift a zero, he acknowledged the catchiness of the song. He praised Swift for her kindness and compassion, noting that she took the time to interact with everyone on set.

Talking about the security measures during the shoot, Reynolds mentioned that they were very strict and maintained throughout the production process.
