The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center is gearing up for its 17th annual Juneteenth in Da Rock celebration this June, promising new partnerships and events that will elevate the festivities to new heights. The Black history museum kicked off the Juneteenth season by unveiling collaborations with the city of Little Rock and the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Key Fletcher, the director of Mosaic Templars, expressed enthusiasm for this year’s Juneteenth celebration, highlighting the museum’s collaboration with key stakeholders to make it the most significant event Arkansas has ever witnessed. Their vision focuses on uniting culture, commerce, music, and movement in downtown Little Rock and extending participation opportunities to communities statewide.
The upcoming Juneteenth festival in Da Rock will span several days, commencing on Juneteenth, a Friday. It will include novel additions such as a Juneteenth summit at the Robinson Center and a riverfront party at the First Security Amphitheater. The summit will offer a platform for speakers, breakout sessions, and an exhibition hall dedicated to Black culture, history, and community, aiming to entertain and educate attendees. Details about the riverfront party are yet to be disclosed.
On Saturday morning, the 5th annual 5k Freedom Run will take place from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., starting on West Ninth Street and winding through historic Arkansas locales including Arkansas Baptist College, the Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site, and Philander Smith University. Following this, the street festival on West Ninth Street from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. will feature an array of vendors, food trucks, a children’s zone, local artists, and live music.
