Rio to host free rock festival with green beer and 80s vibe at three locations
In Rio de Janeiro, the Rock 80 Festival is gearing up to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a special edition that promises free concerts, green beer, and plenty of excitement over three weekends across different neighborhoods in the city. This festival is well-known for bringing together top-notch cover bands, a diverse selection of food, and a nostalgic atmosphere filled with music from the 1980s and 1990s.
The unique twist for this edition lies in honoring St. Patrick’s Day, an iconic Irish holiday dedicated to the patron saint of Ireland. To capture the spirit of the celebration, the Rock 80 Festival will feature a variety of green craft beers specially brewed for the event. Attendees can also join in on beer games like the draft beer contest, with sign-up opportunities available during the festival itself.
Over the course of three weekends, the Rock 80 Festival will unfold in three distinct neighborhoods in Rio de Janeiro. The first weekend kicks off on March 7 and 8 at Aterro Flamengo, located at Posto 3. The day begins at 11 a.m. with a DJ setting the mood on the dance floor, paving the way for a music-filled extravaganza. Various bands will take the stage, performing a mix of their own songs and iconic tracks from artists such as Oasis, Pearl Jam, Os Paralamas do Sucesso, Lulu Santos, Silverchair, Foo Fighters, and more.
Following the opening weekend, the festival heads to Quinta da Boa Vista on March 14 and 15, still commencing at 11 a.m. Finally, the Rock 80 Festival wraps up the month of March in style in the neighborhood of Urca. This series of events is open to the public, with a request for patrons to donate two kilograms of non-perishable food to local social institutions.
Among the new features introduced in this edition is a VIP area situated close to the main musical attractions, catering to those seeking a more exclusive experience. Access to this area is priced at R$ 120 and includes perks such as an exclusive t-shirt, an official event cup, three beers, and access to private restroom facilities.
With its blend of music, community spirit, and festive ambiance, the Rock 80 Festival is all set to provide a memorable St. Patrick’s Day celebration for residents and visitors alike. Don’t miss the chance to revel in the magic of this themed event that promises to bring a nostalgic taste of the 80s to the vibrant streets of Rio de Janeiro.
