John Dwyer shares EP with OSEES and Damaged Bug song
The enigmatic and prolific musician John Dwyer, known for his work in psychedelic garage rock, seems to constantly blur the lines between his numerous musical projects. Releasing music under various monikers, Dwyer keeps listeners on their toes with a constant stream of new material. Today, two of his main projects, OSEES and Damaged Bug, have unveiled new tracks for fans to enjoy.
OSEES, the flagship band led by Dwyer, dropped a surprise EP titled Cara Maluco. This unexpected release consists of four new tracks available on Bandcamp, with a promise of a single-sided 12″ EP featuring an etched B-side. According to the Rock Is Hell website, the new songs offer a blend of “fried trippers and tight dance punk numbers.” Upon my initial listen, the seven-minute title track, “Cara Maluco,” veers into a trippy stoner-rock territory, showcasing the band’s experimental tendencies.
On the other hand, Damaged Bug, Dwyer’s solo project, is gearing up to release a new album named ZUZAX later this month. Preceded by the lead single “End Of The War,” the project unveiled another track today titled “Over-exposed.” This dreamy and saxophone-infused track exudes a sense of blissful alienation, drawing comparisons to David Bowie’s Berlin era. Dwyer reflects on the song, expressing that “‘Over-exposed’ is about keeping your head up during uncertain times, avoiding compromising one’s integrity, and recognizing the true adversaries amidst chaos and destruction.”
Fans can indulge in the sounds of the Cara Maluco EP, out now on Deathgod Corp, and can anticipate the release of ZUZAX on 3/20 via the same label.
