Ararat festival to feature Jailhouse Rock concert
Ararat’s Jailhouse Rock Festival is set to kick off with a three-day extravaganza full of live bands, a classic car show, and fun for the whole family. Festival director Chelsea Streeter shared the event’s exciting lineup, starting with the festivities on Friday, which includes live music and a main street car cruise.
Excitement is expected to build on Friday evening at the town hall with a performance by Slim and the Sparkplugs at 7pm. To add more to the excitement, the Barkly Street cruise will take place from 7pm to 8pm, offering a fantastic kickoff to the weekend’s events. Moving on to Saturday, attendees can look forward to a car show in the main street area in front of the town hall from 9am to 1pm. Additionally, there will be plenty of entertainment in the form of a dancefloor, market stalls, and live music featuring the popular Cobra 45s.
Highlighting the Saturday agenda, the event will continue with a lunch event at the Leopold Hotel, followed by a fun-filled hot dog and movie afternoon at the Astor Cinema, featuring the family-friendly film “Goat.” As the day progresses, visitors can enjoy the sounds of Stompin’ 88s at the town hall, along with another band entertaining crowds at the Leopold.
Sunday promises to be the grand finale of the festival, with a jam-packed schedule that includes four bands performing throughout the day and a car, truck, and motorbike show. Moreover, there will be various activities for kids, such as jumping castles and a wildlife display, ensuring that everyone has a great time.
Festival director Chelsea Streeter expressed gratitude for the interstate visitors who make the effort to attend the festival, showing their support for the town of Ararat. The festival committee has gone the extra mile to prepare for the event, arranging a weekend raffle that includes meal vouchers and tickets to local attractions, ultimately aiming to draw visitors back to the area.
Looking ahead, Streeter hinted at the growth of the festival, mentioning plans for the 30th-year celebration next year, anticipating even bigger and better festivities for attendees to enjoy. To accommodate visitors, tickets for town hall performances are now available at Ararat Town Hall, while admission to Sunday’s activities can be paid for at the gate of Ararat Turf Club. The festival’s pricing structure aims to be inclusive and affordable, with family packages, adult tickets, and reduced rates for children ensuring that everyone can join in the fun.
