Bozeman punk band has $20K worth of equipment stolen in Salt Lake City – KBZK
A punk rock band hailing from Bozeman faced a major setback as they reported a significant loss of equipment amounting to over $20,000 during their return from a tour. The incident occurred in Salt Lake City just as they were making their way back to Montana after completing a mini tour across Las Vegas and Southern California. The band, GönersÜK, revealed that thieves had targeted their van, breaking in and making off with a substantial amount of gear, a loss that they considered to be devastating.
The stolen equipment had crucial financial implications for the band, as the funds were earmarked to aid in the pressing of their upcoming album. Expressing their distress, bassist and vocalist, Robb Stotts stated, “Heartbroken and helpless too… You know there’s nothing we can really do. We just have to sit back and hope maybe someone sells something, and we can track it down. At that point, it’s just breadcrumbs.” Despite the adversity, GönersÜK acknowledged the overwhelming support pouring in from the punk rock community, highlighting their intention to persevere and continue performing with the remaining equipment they possess.
In a bid to recover from the setback, GönersÜK is set to stage a performance on May 8 at the Labor Temple in Bozeman, where they intend to unveil their new album despite the challenges posed by the theft. The band’s resilience in the face of this unfortunate event underscores their dedication to their craft and commitment to delivering their music to their audience. They remain undeterred by the loss and are determined to soldier on with the unwavering backing of their fans and peers in the punk rock scene.
As a response to their predicament, a GoFundMe page has been set up to support GönersÜK in replacing their stolen gear and proceeding with the production of their new album. The initiative aims to rally support from the community, allowing fans and well-wishers to contribute towards helping the band recover from the setback and resume their musical endeavors. The unity and solidarity displayed within the punk rock community serve as a beacon of hope for GönersÜK as they navigate through the challenges brought about by the theft, reaffirming the strength of kinship and camaraderie within the music industry.
