A new promotional video for the upcoming television anime adaptation of Kōcha Agasawa’s manga, “Koori no Jyōheki” (The Ramparts of Ice or Ice Castle Wall), has been released on the official website. The video gives a sneak peek at the opening theme song, “Tōmei” (Invisible), performed by the rock band Novelbright.
The anime is set to premiere on TBS and 27 affiliated channels in Japan on April 2 at 11:56 p.m. (9:56 p.m. EST), with subsequent streaming on Netflix starting on April 3. Global Netflix viewers can also look forward to the show on April 2. Alongside Netflix, the series will be available on other platforms for Japanese audiences.
The cast of the anime includes Anna Nagase as Koyuki Hikawa, Fūka Izumi as Miki Azumi, Shōya Chiba as Minato Amamiya, Satoshi Inomata as Yota Hino, Chiaki Kobayashi as Tsubasa Igarashi, and Sakura Shinfuku as Tsukiko Shimojima.
Directed by Mankyū, known for works like “Pui Pui Molcar the Movie: MOLMAX,” the anime will be produced by Studio KAI. The series scripts will be handled by Yasuhiro Nakanishi, with Miki Ogino in charge of character designs and Kanade Sakuma and Natsumi Tabuchi composing the music.
The closing theme song, “Sakasama” (Upside Down), will be performed by Polkadot Stingray.
The original manga was serialized as a webtoon on the LINE Manga app from January 2020 to April 2022 by Agasawa. The final compiled volume, containing the 14th volume, was released by Shueisha in February 2025. The story follows Koyuki Hikawa, a loner in high school who struggles to connect with others and keeps her distance. Despite her solitary nature, Minato Amemiya inexplicably grows closer to her, leading to a complex narrative involving Koyuki, Minato, Miki, and Yōta.
The manga received critical acclaim, ranking highly in various publications and awards ceremonies. Notably, it placed second in the “Most Wanted Anime Adaptation” poll by AnimeJapan in 2023. This coming-of-age romantic comedy promises a captivating tale of interconnected lives and the challenges of youth.
