The iconic album Silent Shout by The Knife marked its 20th anniversary a month ago. Although the duo has disbanded, both members have continued to create music. Karin Dreijer, now known as Fever Ray, recently made their acting debut in the movie The Bride! and contributed to its soundtrack. Meanwhile, Olof Dreijer, the other half of The Knife, is set to release a new solo album titled Loud Boom.

Olof Dreijer has released several solo projects in recent years, with the most recent being the EP Iris, which dropped in October. His upcoming LP, Loud Boom, set to be released this spring, is expected to fuse the language of house music with forward-thinking and rebellious elements. The album will feature collaborations with South African Afro rave artist Toya DeLazy and Colombian musician, and former Dreijer collaborator, Diva Cruz.

One of the singles from Loud Boom is “Echoed Dafnino,” a track where Dreijer joins forces with MaMan, a Sudanese vocalist currently residing in Cairo. MaMan’s emotive vocals in Arabic blend seamlessly with Dreijer’s pulsating beats. The tracklist for Loud Boom includes songs like “Rosa Rugosa,” “Plastic Camelia,” “Cassia,” “Acuyuye” featuring Diva Cruz, “Makwande” featuring Toya Delazy, and more, totaling 14 tracks in all.

The release date for Loud Boom is scheduled for 5/8 on dh2, marking an eagerly anticipated moment for fans of The Knife and its members’ solo ventures. With a diverse range of collaborators and a unique blend of sounds, this album promises to be a noteworthy addition to the musical landscape.

In conclusion, the legacy of The Knife continues to thrive through the individual pursuits of Karin Dreijer as Fever Ray and Olof Dreijer as a solo artist. Their innovative approach to music and willingness to push boundaries are evident in their latest projects, with Loud Boom poised to make waves upon its release. Keep an eye out for this exciting new album that showcases the evolution and creativity of one of music’s most groundbreaking acts.
