Deceased Pioneers Reveal Third Album ‘Wagon Burner’ and Release Latest Single ‘No Kings’
Indigenous-led punk band Dead Pioneers recently revealed the upcoming release of their third studio album, Wagon Burner, scheduled for June 26th, and dropped a defiant new single titled No Kings. Frontman Gregg Deal shared that the track draws inspiration from the No Kings protests that took place across the United States last summer. The essence of the song revolves around standing against right-wing politics and governmental overreach. Deal emphasized the importance of vocalizing opposition to these issues, stating that they will not allow their fundamental rights to be disregarded by those in power for their own gains.
Their latest single, No Kings, follows the impactful release of their previous track Nazi Teeth, a vehement condemnation of white supremacy. Dead Pioneers’ music is characterized by its raw, politically charged nature, and their upcoming album, Wagon Burner, promises to deliver a more collaborative and accessible sound. The band’s origin story traces back to 2020 when Deal’s performance piece, The Punk Pan-Indian Romantic Comedy, merged spoken word with energetic punk vibes to explore themes of identity and upbringing. The chemistry between Deal, drummer Shane Zweygardt, and guitarist Josh Rivera sparked the birth of Dead Pioneers. Their debut self-titled album, released in 2023, quickly sold out multiple vinyl pressings and propelled them to share stages with notable punk acts such as Pennywise, Propagandhi, and Pearl Jam.
Co-produced with Chris Beeble and recorded at The Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado, their upcoming album, Wagon Burner, captures the band’s signature blend of anger, humor, and hope – serving as a sonic opposition to indifference during turbulent times. The record is poised to showcase Dead Pioneers’ unwavering stand against societal apathy and injustice.
