Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers release new song “Bath Water”
Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, an ARIA Award-winning indie-rock band, have unveiled their latest track, “Bath Water,” which they describe as a “slutty, drivey” song that captures the essence of coming home from a night out feeling excited to be alone. This new track is part of their upcoming deluxe version of their album “GLORY,” set to be released on April 24 through Community Music. The deluxe edition will include two new songs, “Bath Water” and “Go Waste My Time,” along with stripped back versions of four fan-favorite tracks.
Following their successful run at the Laneway Festival in Australia, during which they received an overwhelmingly positive response from fans, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers are gearing up for their AUNZ GLORY album tour in May. This tour will see them performing at their biggest venues to date and hosting a series of all-ages shows with local support from IVY in Aotearoa. The band’s tour will kick off in Christchurch on May 21, followed by shows in Auckland and Wellington.
The band also announced their North American tour dates scheduled for October and November, where they will headline shows along the East Coast and perform at Warped Tour in Florida. Additionally, they will be sharing the stage with Jimmy Eat World on their highly anticipated Bleed American 25th Anniversary Tour. Before their North American tour, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers are set to make a return to the UK and Europe in August for sold-out headline shows in London, Portsmouth, and Switzerland.
“GLORY,” produced by 3x GRAMMY Award-winning producer Catherine Marks, delves into themes of confidence, disgust, infatuation, and power against a backdrop of indie-rock music that exudes confidence and swagger. The album made waves upon its release, debuting at #9 on the ARIA Albums and #2 on the ARIA Australian Albums Charts. Lead single “Balcony” landed at #61 on this year’s Hottest 100, further solidifying the band’s position in the music scene.
Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, which comprises Anna Ryan, Scarlett McKahey, Jaida Stephenson, and Neve van Boxsel, have seen a steady rise in their career since the release of their debut EP “PRETTY GOOD FOR A GIRL BAND” in 2022. Their debut album “I LOVE YOU” debuted at #6 on the ARIA Charts and produced the single “I Used To Be Fun,” which ranked #52 on the Hottest 100. The band has accumulated a series of nominations and wins at prestigious award ceremonies, highlighting their musical talent and contribution to the industry.
Having contributed to various social causes and initiatives, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers are not just a band focused on making music but also on making a difference. Their involvement in Green Music’s No Music on a Dead Planet campaign, participation in Rising Tide on Parliament House steps, and advocacy for Michael’s Rule demonstrate their commitment to social issues affecting women, non-binary individuals, and young people worldwide.
As they gear up for their GLORY AUNZ Album Tour and subsequent international shows, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers continue to defy expectations and push boundaries with their music. Their unique blend of indie-rock sounds and socially conscious lyrics make them a band to watch in the music scene.
