Video footage has been released showcasing a wild beer truck chase in Indiana. The incident involved Randall Baker, 41, who allegedly stole the Bud Light truck from a liquor store and was later seen driving on Diamond Avenue near Resurrection Drive. The driver of the truck was in the midst of unloading it when the theft occurred, causing them to leap out of the moving vehicle.

Upon realizing the truck had been stolen, law enforcement officials initiated a pursuit, which Baker failed to comply with. The Nashville band Tailgate Revival obtained surveillance video from a fan, which captured the Bud Light truck speeding down a street with several patrol cars in hot pursuit. The chase ensued in a westward direction towards Wadesville and then veered north towards Poseyville.

During the pursuit, deputies attempted to halt the truck’s progress using stop sticks. Unfortunately, Baker maneuvered the stolen vehicle in such a way that it collided with Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jared Zwilling’s cruiser before ultimately crashing into a nearby field. Following the collision, Zwilling released his body camera footage of the crash, revealing the chaotic scene as it unfolded.

Zwilling reflected on the intense moment, stating, “When I was playing it back in my head, I thought I was a lot further away, but when I watched the video, I was pretty close… 10 yards maybe.” Despite the close call, Zwilling escaped unharmed, although his cruiser sustained significant damage in the crash.

Law enforcement officials eventually managed to corner Baker, who showed resistance to exiting the truck. Deputies resorted to using pepper ball rounds to compel Baker to surrender. He was subsequently transported to a hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries sustained during the crash. It was later revealed that Baker’s blood alcohol content was over the legal limit, further complicating the situation.

Reflecting on the incident, Zwilling remarked on the unusual nature of the chase, referring to it as a first in his career. He humorously described pursuing a stolen Bud Light truck as a unique experience that highlights the unexpected challenges faced by law enforcement officers on duty. Despite the adrenaline-inducing nature of the pursuit, Zwilling admitted to feeling saddened by the damage to his cruiser, which only sunk in after the dust had settled.

Baker now faces a slew of serious charges, including attempted murder, auto theft, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, resisting law enforcement, reckless operation of a tractor-trailer, and driving while intoxicated. He is set to appear in court for a hearing later in the week, where the full extent of his legal consequences will likely be determined.
