Nest 30th Anniversary: Arakoi and Otoboke Beaver to Perform at O-Nest in Tokyo
Shibuya’s iconic venue, O-Nest, is celebrating a significant milestone – its 30th anniversary. To mark this occasion, a special series of shows has been organized, showcasing artists from different parts of Japan. On May 28, music enthusiasts can catch performances by Tokyo dub band Arakoi and Kyoto hardcore punk group Otoboke Beaver.
Arakoi, an abbreviation of “Arakajime Kimerareta Koibito e,” has established a strong presence in the Japanese festival circuit since its inception in the early 2000s. Led by primary songwriter Shoji Ikenaga, the band is known for its unique blend of lyrical instrumental dub music. The release of their latest single, ‘Hinoko,’ in collaboration with Yuta Kimura from the Kodo Taiko Performing Arts Ensemble on the shinobue flute, marked their memorable end to 2025.
Meanwhile, Otoboke Beaver from Kyoto has gained immense popularity in recent years due to their high-energy and precise performances. Their relentless tour schedule has taken them to various US festivals like Coachella, SXSW, and Lollapalooza, and they have had the privilege of sharing the stage with iconic acts such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Oasis, Foo Fighters, and Green Day. This upcoming show will feature their former touring drummer, Leo, as an official member, making it one of their last performances in Japan before embarking on another international tour.
The event will take place at Spoify O-Nest, located in Shibuya at the 6F O-West Building on 2-3 Maruyamacho. The venue is easily accessible from Shibuya Station, serving the Yamanote, Ginza, and Hanzomon lines, with the Hachiko exit being the most convenient point of entry. Doors will open at 6 pm, with the show kicking off at 7 pm. Tickets are priced at ¥4,400 in advance.
Music enthusiasts looking to immerse themselves in a night of diverse sounds and dynamic performances should mark their calendars for this special event. Arakoi and Otoboke Beaver are set to deliver an electrifying show that celebrates the spirit of music and the enduring legacy of Shibuya’s beloved O-Nest venue. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience two exceptional Japanese bands on one memorable night.
