Pond is a renowned Australian musical group that has always been at the forefront of innovative music and electrifying live performances. The band recently announced the upcoming release of their new album, “Terrestrials,” set to debut in June, and revealed plans to embark on a tour in support of this record. In anticipation of the album’s launch, Pond has unveiled a new track and accompanying music video titled “Two Hands,” paying homage to Indigenous communities.

According to Nicholas Allbrook, one of the band members, “Two Hands” is a poignant reflection on the devastating impact of the destruction caused by mining company Rio Tinto at Juukun Gorge in the Hammersley Range, Western Australia. The company’s actions resulted in the obliteration of sacred rock shelters that held immense archaeological, cultural, and spiritual significance. These rock shelters housed a cultural history spanning an astounding 46,000 years, carefully preserved by the local Indigenous communities. Allbrook drew a stark comparison, questioning how society would respond if iconic landmarks like the Vatican or Notre Dame were ruthlessly demolished to make way for corporate interests — underscoring the injustice and outrage surrounding the destruction at Juukun Gorge.

Formed in Fremantle, Western Australia, back in 2010, Pond comprises talented artists including frontman Allbrook, Jay Watson, Joseph Ryan, James Ireland, and Jamie Terry. The band’s breakthrough came with the release of their 2013 album, “Beard, Wives, Denim,” propelling them from a close-knit group of musicians and friends to an internationally recognized touring band with a dedicated following. As they gear up for their new album release, Pond has also announced a series of tour dates, providing fans with the opportunity to experience their electrifying performances in person.

The tour dates for Pond include stops across various cities, offering fans a chance to witness the band’s dynamic and energetic live shows. With performances scheduled at prominent venues like Atlanta’s Terminal West, Forest Hills Stadium in New York, and Chicago’s Metro Chicago, Pond is set to captivate audiences across the country. Additionally, Pond will be joined by DJO for select tour dates, enhancing the overall musical experience for attendees.

As excitement builds for the release of “Terrestrials” and the accompanying tour, fans can now pre-save the album to ensure they don’t miss out on the latest offering from Pond. The band’s “Terrestrials” promises to serve as a creative and meaningful musical journey, marked by artistic innovation and a deep commitment to supporting Indigenous communities. Pond’s new track and video, “Two Hands,” stand as a testament to the band’s dedication to raising awareness and championing important causes while delivering exceptional music to their devoted audience.
