Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless hospitalized after being bitten by a spider
Getting a spider bite may not sound like a big deal at first, but if the spider happens to be venomous, the situation changes dramatically. Unfortunately, while on tour opening for AC/DC in Mexico City, The Pretty Reckless’ lead vocalist, Taylor Momsen, was bitten by a poisonous spider and had to be hospitalized for treatment.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, April 14, Momsen shared a photo of a massive rash covering the lower part of her leg, along with the caption, “Hospital today, show tomorrow, poisonous spiders are NO BUENO. But the show must go on, see you tomorrow Mexico City!” However, things did not go as planned, and on Wednesday, April 15, she posted another update saying, “Or I just spend the night in the hospital,” with additional footage from her hospital stay. She expressed gratitude towards the doctors who were treating her, acknowledging their expertise in handling the situation.
The progression of Momsen’s spider bite was quite alarming. Initially, on April 8, she revealed that she had been bitten by a spider during the tour’s opening night. Interestingly, this was not the first time Momsen had encountered an animal-related incident while on tour with AC/DC, as she had previously been bitten by a bat during a concert in Spain. Despite receiving treatment from a doctor on the tour for the spider bite, the condition worsened over the following week.
Looking ahead, The Pretty Reckless is scheduled to join AC/DC for another leg of their tour in July, performing at stadiums across the United States. Hopefully, this time around, there will be no more encounters with venomous spiders.
