Modest Mouse fans can rejoice as the Grammy-nominated rock band announced the upcoming release of their new album, “An Eraser and a Maze,” set to drop on June 5. The band, best known for their hit song “Float On,” took to Instagram to unveil the album artwork, sparking excitement among their loyal followers.

In addition to revealing the album’s title and release date, Modest Mouse hinted at an upcoming fall tour with a simple caption, “Fall tour incoming,” leaving fans eagerly anticipating live performances of their new music.

Frontman Isaac Brock expressed his creative process for the new album, sharing, “For this one, I turned off my filter and just let it all happen. Thoughts, emotions, feelings… you’re like the soup, and it’s not always easy to pick out the ingredients. I don’t dwell on things much. I don’t grieve much. I’m not sure I’m a person. I feel like I should have more feelings than I do. But then, you know, I’ll sing stuff. And I’m like, ‘Oh, there it is. It’s in there.'”

“An Eraser and a Maze” will mark Modest Mouse’s eighth studio album and is a significant release as it will be distributed through frontman Isaac Brock’s imprint, Glacial Pace Recordings, making it the band’s first independent release in almost 30 years following their 2021 album, “The Golden Casket,” which was released via Epic Records.

The tracklist for “An Eraser and a Maze” has been revealed, featuring songs such as “Picking Dragons’ Pockets,” “Remember Yourself,” “Life’s a Dream,” “Third Side of the Moon,” “Dogbed in Heaven/Give it a Skeleton,” “Interlude,” “I Can’t Talk Right Now,” “Speak ‘N Spell (Or Not),” “Rotten Fruit,” “Knocked Down By Waves,” “Absolutely Necessary Never,” “Song About Nothing,” “Stoner Party,” “Look How Far…,” and “Impossible Somedays.”

Modest Mouse’s upcoming album promises to deliver their unique sound and style to fans, showcasing the band’s evolution and musical creativity. With the release date set for June 5, fans can look forward to immersing themselves in the innovative and emotive world of Modest Mouse once again.
