Eric Clapton recently delighted fans in his birth county of Surrey with two intimate warm-up shows at Guildford’s G Live. Attendees at these gigs expressed how significant it felt for Clapton to perform in the place where he was born.

Lee Anderton, who was present at both performances, noted that Clapton appeared to be thoroughly enjoying himself on stage. As the owner of a local music store, Anderton shared his perspective on the shows, describing them as a hit with the audience. “The crowd absolutely loved it; it was a fantastic show,” he remarked. Anderton also observed a more relaxed demeanor from Clapton on the second night, mentioning the rock legend’s smiles and evident enjoyment of the experience. “I think it was a meaningful experience for Eric to be able to perform here in Guildford,” Anderton mused.

Having previously played at the same venue for a charity concert in 2018, Clapton’s return to G Live was met with enthusiasm. Derek Aldridge, a representative from the venue, shared that they were initially taken aback by Clapton’s interest in staging his own solo show there. “We weren’t expecting that call; we thought he just wanted the place for rehearsals,” Aldridge admitted. The decision to perform at G Live was evidently a deliberate one for Clapton, who found the venue to be a suitable space to showcase his music. Aldridge expressed his delight at Clapton’s return, emphasizing the positive impact it had on both the venue, the audiences, and all those involved.

Looking ahead, Clapton is gearing up for a series of arena shows around the globe, with performances scheduled in cities like Munich, Barcelona, and Chicago. Additionally, he is slated to deliver a special one-night-only concert at the prestigious Sandringham Estate on August 23rd.
