Tricky Unveils New Album ‘Different When It’s Silent’: Listen to “Out Of Place”
The intriguing figure from Bristol, Tricky, may not hold the same revered status as his counterparts in the trip-hop scene like Massive Attack and Portishead, but his musical contributions have been mind-bending, and his distinctive voice still carries significant weight. Recently, Tricky revealed his upcoming album entitled Different When It’s Silent, serving as a follow-up to his 2020 release Fall To Pieces.
In the time since 2020, Tricky has ventured into various side projects under different aliases, such as Lonely Guest. However, his manager Alan McGee had to persuade him that his latest compositions warranted inclusion on a proper Tricky album. The forthcoming record features guest appearances from Bristol vocalist Mitch Sanders and Tricky’s longtime collaborator Marta Złakowska, who lends her vocals to the lead single “Out Of Place.” The track delivers a raw, flickering post-punk vibe, showcasing a side of Tricky that draws comparisons to the likes of Tom Waits, despite their shared involvement with Massive Attack.
