Children of Motörhead Guitarist to Hold Two Memorial Concerts This Summer
Todd Campbell, Dane Campbell, and Tyla Campbell have announced plans for two memorial concerts this summer in honor of their late father, Phil Campbell, the guitarist of Motörhead, who passed away in March. The brothers took to Facebook to share the news with their fans, confirming the upcoming shows.
The first memorial concert is scheduled for August 22 at Chepstow Castle in Wales, while the second show will take place on September 5 at the Hella Rock Festival at HMV Empire in Coventry, England. Despite the recent loss of their father, the Campbell brothers expressed their commitment to continuing with the planned concerts, reassuring fans that the band will proceed with the performances.
In light of their father’s passing, the group will be performing under the name Phil Campbell’s Bastard Sons for these shows. The concerts will serve as a tribute to Phil Campbell, celebrating his life and legacy. The brothers emphasized the significance of the upcoming events and extended an invitation to their fans to join them in honoring their father’s memory at the shows.
Phil Campbell had a distinguished career as Motörhead’s guitarist from 1984 to 2015, contributing to several of the band’s iconic albums over the years. Following the disbandment of Motörhead after Lemmy’s death in 2015, Phil Campbell joined forces with his three sons and singer Neil Starr to form Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons in 2016. The band released their self-titled EP in 2016, followed by their debut album, “The Age of Absurdity,” in 2018.
Tragically, Phil Campbell passed away on March 13 at the age of 64, leaving behind a rich musical legacy and a lasting impact on the rock music scene. With a lifelong passion for music that began at a young age, Campbell’s talent and dedication to his craft were evident throughout his career. The upcoming memorial concerts will offer fans an opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate the life of the legendary guitarist.
The Chepstow Castle concert will feature additional performances by Chris Holmes, Tygers of Pan Tang, and King Kraken, while the main stage at the Hella Rock Festival has been renamed The Phil Campbell Stage in honor of the late guitarist. Tickets for both events are currently available for purchase on the band’s website, with more shows expected to be announced in the near future.
