Low Cut Connie is inspired by youth protest on “Little Freakers”
Philadelphia-based rock ‘n’ roll artist Low Cut Connie recently launched “Little Freakers,” the second track from his upcoming protest record, Livin in the USA, set to release on July 3 through Contender Records. Alongside this release, he announced a series of full-band live shows in Denver, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and more. The album celebration concert is scheduled for July 3 in Freehold, New Jersey, supporting Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul at Park Stage.
The inspiration behind “Little Freakers” came from witnessing the younger generation protest fascism through artistic expression, giving hope for a diverse and open American society. Low Cut Connie, known offstage as Weiner, refers to these individuals as “Little Freakers,” seeing them as the key to a vibrant and free future America. His new single and protest album encompass a message of civil disobedience and resistance against the societal norms of conventionalism.
In January, Weiner introduced Livin in the USA with a statement on social media, emphasizing the importance of creating a protest album. The album’s title track received praise from Rolling Stone, citing it as a blend of partying and voicing concern over injustices. Classic Rock Magazine also lauded the record as a soulful confrontation against the ruling powers and the tech elite. This album was even discussed in a segment on “Modern Protest Songs” on Sound Opinions by Jim Derogatis and Greg Kot.
As a rock & roll artist hailing from Philadelphia, Weiner’s project Low Cut Connie has amassed a loyal following that includes notable figures like President Barack Obama and music legends Elton John and Bruce Springsteen. Not limiting his reach to just the music scene, Weiner ventured into filmmaking with the award-winning documentary Art Dealers in 2024.
Currently embarked on his “Livin in the USA” solo tour, Weiner is slated to perform in various cities including St. Paul, Nashville, and New York City. Additionally, fans can catch Low Cut Connie live at upcoming tour dates in cities like Pittsburgh, New York, Baltimore, and more. The band’s dynamic performances have earned them critical acclaim and recognition on notable platforms like Fresh Air and Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Low Cut Connie’s live performances promise an energetic and immersive experience for fans, blending rock & roll with a social and political message. As Weiner continues to advocate for change and social progress through his music, his impact on the contemporary music scene remains undeniable. With each electrifying live show, Low Cut Connie solidifies its status as a band unafraid to speak out and challenge the status quo.
