Tedeschi Trucks Band pays tribute to Dave Mason with performance of ‘Feelin Alright?’

The Tedeschi Trucks Band took a poignant moment during their recent performance to honor the memory of the late Dave Mason. Mason, a co-founder of Traffic, passed away on April 19 at the age of 79. The band was headlining the Sun, Sand, and Soul Festival 2026 in Miramar Beach, Florida when they decided to cover Traffic’s iconic song, “Feelin’ Alright?”, penned by Mason himself.

Susan Tedeschi addressed the crowd, sharing, “I’m just going to have to dedicate this one to an amazing musician, an amazing songwriter, who just passed recently who was a dear friend of ours, for Dave Mason.” She continued, “This is one of his songs. Just gonna send it out to him, up there in heaven, jamming with all the cool guys.” The heartfelt dedication was captured by a fan and posted on YouTube.

The Tedeschi Trucks Band has a history of performing “Feelin’ Alright?”, with Susan and Derek Trucks having most recently played it in November alongside Teddy Swims as part of Joe Cocker’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This classic song originally featured on Traffic’s 1968 second album and has been covered by several artists over the years, including Cocker, who recorded a hit version of it by omitting the question mark from the title.

Joining many others in honoring Dave Mason’s memory, Mick Fleetwood shared a collection of photos of the two of them, including one during Mason’s brief tenure with Fleetwood Mac. In his touching tribute, Fleetwood expressed his love for the friend he had lost and sent his heartfelt condolences to Mason’s wife, Winifred Wilson.
