Planting activity called “Chitose Welcome Flower Road Ver.24” scheduled to take place!
“Chitose Welcome Flower Road Ver.24” is gearing up for its annual planting activity where 15,000 flowers will line an impressive 8km stretch on the roadside. This event, which first took root in 2003 when the Chitose Junior Chamber initiated the idea of adding a colorful touch to National Route 36 in collaboration with local elementary schools, has evolved over the years to involve not only residents but also volunteers, businesses, and various organizations in the community. In its 24th year, the event has attracted around 11,500 participants who have collectively planted over 545,000 flowers to date.
The theme for this year’s planting extravaganza is “A Flower Journey to the World, Starting from the Flower Road,” aiming to transform the road leading to Hokkaido’s renowned New Chitose Airport into a stunning display of “hospitality flowers.” If you have a green thumb and a love for nature, why not join us in this gratifying opportunity to plant flowers and contribute to the beauty of the surroundings?
Scheduled for May 19th from 9:30 AM onwards, the meeting point for the event will be beside the Chitose Elementary School Gymnasium.
