The competitive spirit was alive and well at the JPMG CCI2*-L event at Ballindenisk, with none of the top 19 competitors incurring cross-country jumping penalties and none of the top 10 knocking down any poles. This placed significant emphasis on the dressage portion of the competition, where Clare Abbott and the impressive MT Kenobis Touch (ISH) demonstrated their prowess early on by maintaining a lead with a dressage penalty score of 32. The seven-year-old gelding, MT Kenobis Touch, a descendant of Mullaghdrin Touch The Stars (ISH) and Lux So Easy (ISH), was skillfully guided by Clare Abbott, who had previously clinched an EI115 win at Tyrella. Following closely behind with just one penalty separating them was John Tilley on Kilkenny International’s Cooley Quickfire, a nine-year-old gelding sired by Womanizer and out of Air Cruise (ISH). Hong Kong’s Yu Xuan Su secured the third and fourth positions aboard Samiro Cruze MC (ISH) and Jones JL (KWPN) with scores of 33.5 and 33.6, respectively. Sarah Ennis and Grantstown Jackson followed in fifth place with Joan O’Connor’s DS Are You Calypso (ISH) and Fiona Kashel and Off Piste Monbeg (KWPN) rounded out the top six. The competition was fierce, but the riders showcased exceptional skills and determination throughout. Maeve Deverell and Annaharvey Dunowen emerged triumphant in the JPMG CCI2*-S event, finishing with a commendable performance and just 0.4 time penalties to add to their dressage score of 29.6.
