Charli XCX Teases New Song with Rock Music Influence, Clarifies Album Genre

In a recent interview for British Vogue, Charli expressed her perspective on rock music saying, “What’s interesting for me is to bend the possibilities of what my perspective on that could be.” She also mentioned that creating a follow-up to her hit album “Brat” within the dance world she built would have been challenging.
During the studio visit in West London with the magazine writer, Charli previewed the song “Rock Music” from her upcoming album, emphasizing the lyric, “I think the dance floor is dead, now we’re making rock music.” She acknowledged the potential backlash of including guitars in her music, stating, “For me, it’s fun to flip the form.”
Charli revealed that her next album delves into her relationship with art and how it provides her with purpose in life. The success of her album “Brat,” reaching No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in 2024, has led to high expectations for her upcoming release.
While working on the soundtrack for Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of “Wuthering Heights,” Charli’s collaborative effort climbed to No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart and debuted at No. 1 on the Soundtracks chart.
