Elder releases new video for “Capture/Release”
Elder has unveiled a new music video for their latest single, “Capture/Release,” which is part of their upcoming album, Through Zero. The album is set to be released on May 29th through Blues Funeral Recordings, Stickman Records, and Bird’s Robe. This track is the second single from the album and presents a more direct and energetic sound compared to their previous works.
Nick DiSalvo, the band’s vocalist and guitarist, shared insight into the creation of “Capture/Release” by stating that it deviates from Elder’s typical style in terms of its simplicity and vigor. The song evolved from an older musical fragment dating back to the beginning of the decade. DiSalvo described the track as a fusion of the old and new Elder spirit, incorporating heavier riffing from their past albums while adapting to their current musical direction. He emphasized the enjoyment of playing the song as a reflection of its essence. DiSalvo also touched on the challenges of being an artist in the modern era, highlighting the constant struggle for recognition in a world dominated by content creation and advertising. “Capture/Release” delves into the sense of being trapped in a technological nightmare forced upon society and the need to reconnect with the intrinsic motivations behind artistic creation – personal expression and joy.
Through Zero follows their 2022 release, Innate Passage, and was produced in-house by the band, with additional mixing by Richard Behrens. The album consists of six tracks that continue to showcase Elder’s evolution towards more expansive and atmospheric soundscapes.
