Legendary American hardcore punk band FEAR is gearing up to make their debut in Australia this June and July, with iconic frontman Lee Ving leading the way. Due to overwhelming demand, a second show has been added in Melbourne to accommodate fans who missed out on tickets for the original performance.

The announcement of an additional show at The Tote on July 2 comes as no surprise, considering the widespread anticipation for FEAR’s first-ever tour Down Under. Australian audiences have long revered the band’s groundbreaking music, which has significantly impacted the punk and alternative music scenes in the country.

Hailing from Los Angeles and forming in 1977, FEAR is widely regarded as a trailblazer in the hardcore punk genre. Their upcoming tour will not only give fans the rare opportunity to witness their iconic sound live but will also showcase the enduring influence that FEAR has had on the music industry over the decades.

The current lineup features founding member Lee Ving on vocals, alongside original drummer Spit Stix, guitarist Eric Razo, and bassist Geoff Kresge, known for his work with AFI and Tiger Army. This lineup represents a blend of classic-era FEAR members and talented musicians from later punk generations, creating a dynamic and electrifying performance for audiences.

FEAR’s debut album, “The Record,” released in 1982, has become a classic in the punk genre, selling over 500,000 copies and solidifying the band’s reputation as pioneers of aggressive and raw songwriting. Tracks like “I Don’t Care About You” and “Let’s Have A War” set the stage for a new wave of punk and alternative rock bands to follow, making FEAR an essential part of music history.

One of FEAR’s most memorable moments was their infamous 1981 Halloween performance on Saturday Night Live, which ended in chaos and controversy. Despite the setback, this event marked a pivotal moment in punk history, showcasing the band’s unapologetic and rebellious attitude towards the mainstream media.

In addition to their musical legacy, frontman Lee Ving has also made a name for himself in the film and television industry, appearing in iconic productions such as “Flashdance” and “Clue.” Ving’s multi-faceted career has elevated FEAR’s visibility beyond the confines of punk music, further cementing their status as cultural icons.

With their latest album “For Right And Order,” released in 2023, FEAR continues to push boundaries and collaborate with musicians from different generations. Their reinterpretation of the Australian classic “Nice Boys Don’t Play Rock’n’Roll” featuring Slash and Duff McKagan from Guns N’ Roses illustrates the band’s commitment to evolving their sound while staying true to their punk roots.

FEAR’s upcoming Australian tour is part of a larger trend of legacy punk acts reconnecting with audiences worldwide. In an era where heritage artists are finding new ways to reach fans, FEAR’s return to the stage is a testament to their enduring influence and relevance in the music industry.
