Manon Hily sends Trip Tik Tonik 5.14d in Gripped Magazine
Manon Hily achieved a significant milestone in October 2025 by redpointing Trip Tik Tonik, a challenging 5.14d climb located in the Déversé sector of Gorges du Loup, France. This marked the first time she conquered a climb at this grade. Shortly after her success on Trip Tik Tonik, in November 2025, Hily continued to push her limits by conquering her first 5.15a ascent on Punt’X. Recently, a new video capturing Hily’s epic ascent of Trip Tik Tonik was released on YouTube, allowing viewers to witness her remarkable achievement firsthand.
The journey to Hily’s triumphant ascents was not easy. Trip Tik Tonik was established by Cédric Lo Piccolo in 2004 with a proposed grade of 5.14b/c. However, the difficulty of the route was upgraded to 5.14d in 2011 after Guillaume Lebret eliminated two glued holds, making the climb even more demanding. The 30-meter route is renowned for its intricate and steep crux that involves kneebar maneuvers and pinches, requiring a blend of power-endurance and technical finesse from climbers.
Trip Tik Tonik has become a sought-after climb among the climbing community, attracting numerous top athletes to test their skills on its challenging terrain. Renowned climbers such as Adam Ondra, Magnus Midtbø, Joe Kinder, Daniel Woods, Seb Bouin, and Jules Marchaland have all successfully completed this demanding climb, solidifying its reputation as a must-try route for elite climbers.
In the realm of climbing, Hily has not only excelled in conquering hard outdoor routes but has also established herself as a prominent competitor in the sport. Despite her busy schedule as a nurse, Hily has managed to balance her vocation with her passion for rock climbing. With over 40 climbs rated at 5.14a or higher under her belt, Hily’s climbing prowess is evident. In January of this year, she added Joe Blau 5.14c in Oliana, Spain, to her impressive list of achievements.
Hily’s climbing endeavors have taken her to various destinations, including Margalef, Spain, where she tackled challenging climbs such as Era Vella 5.14c/d, La Bongada 5.14c, and Coma Sant Pere 5.14c. Additionally, in Saint Léger, France, she successfully conquered La Ligne Claire 5.14c, further showcasing her versatility as a climber. Notably, in November 2024, Hily became the first woman to complete the formidable L’Enfumette 5.14c in Saint Léger, a testament to her tenacity and skill in the sport.
