Anthrax, the East Coast thrash metal legends, are set to release their new single titled “It’s For The Kids” on May 15th. This release will kickstart the promotional campaign for their upcoming studio album, “Cursum Perficio,” which is scheduled to drop on September 18th. The album was produced by Jay Ruston, known for his work with bands like Stone Sour and Armored Saint.

Drummer Charlie Benante revealed the inspiration behind the album’s title, sharing a story about a Marilyn Monroe documentary where he stumbled upon the phrase “Cursum Perficio,” signifying the end of a journey. This sentiment resonated with the band, prompting them to adopt it as the title of their new record. The leaked track listing for the album includes 11 songs, with titles such as “Persistence Of Memory,” “Everybody’s Got A Plan,” and “My Victory.”

Anthrax has been teasing snippets of their new material during their live performances, generating excitement among fans for the long-awaited follow-up to their 2016 album, “For All Kings.” Guitarist Scott Ian’s lyrical contributions to the record underwent some revisions, leading to a slight delay in the album’s release. Initially planned for a May debut, the band decided to push back the launch to fall to ensure a polished final product.

The new single, “It’s For The Kids,” is a precursor to the band’s musical direction on the upcoming album, promising a blend of thrash metal energy and lyrical prowess. Pre-saves for the single are already available, allowing fans to get a taste of what’s to come before the full album release later this year. With seasoned producer Jay Ruston at the helm and a tracklist that promises a diverse range of songs, “Cursum Perficio” is shaping up to be a significant addition to Anthrax’s discography.

As anticipation builds for the release of their ninth studio album, Anthrax continues to cement their status as one of the leading forces in the thrash metal genre. With a legacy spanning decades and a dedicated fan base, the band shows no signs of slowing down, delivering new music that stays true to their signature sound while pushing creative boundaries. Stay tuned for more updates on Anthrax’s musical journey as they gear up for the release of “Cursum Perficio.”
