Anthrax, the legendary heavy metal band from New York, is set to release their highly anticipated 12th studio album titled “Cursum Perficio” on September 18th, 2026. Comprised of Scott Ian, Charlie Benante, Frank Bello, Joey Belladonna, and Jonathan Donais, the band’s upcoming album will mark their first release in a decade since 2016’s “For All Kings,” which debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart. The Latin phrase “Cursum Perficio” translates to “My journey has come to an end,” a fitting title for Anthrax’s latest musical endeavor.

The album’s lead single and accompanying video, “It’s For the Kids,” serves as a powerful introduction to the upcoming record. Packed with Anthrax’s signature razor-sharp riffs, explosive drumming, and infectious hooks, the track showcases the band’s unwavering energy and commitment to their craft. With its anthemic chorus and driving rhythm, “It’s For the Kids” is destined to become a fan favorite and a highlight of their future live performances.

Recording “Cursum Perficio” at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Los Angeles, Anthrax delved deep into their musical roots while pushing the boundaries of their sound. Produced by Jay Ruston and Anthrax themselves, the album is a testament to the band’s growth and evolution over the years. Each track on the record reflects the band’s renewed passion and dedication to their music, capturing the raw intensity and aggression that Anthrax is known for.

Reflecting on the album’s creation, Scott Ian shared, “It was quite a journey from the inception of this album to its completion. We were supposed to make this in 2020, but the universe had other plans for everyone. After the pandemic, we got to be a band again. When we started working on the record, we were just happy to be in a room together. It was so exciting that it was like being reborn in a way. All of that energy and emotion went into the music.”

Charlie Benante added, “This album is a culmination of everything we’ve learned. I believe we’ve completed the task. We left it all on the table. From here on out, we’re going to go full throttle for every minute.”

With tracks like “It’s For the Kids” and the rest of the album’s lineup, including “Persistence of Memory,” “Everybody’s Got a Plan,” and “My Victory,” Anthrax has crafted a collection of songs that pay homage to their storied career while paving the way for new sonic adventures. “Cursum Perficio” promises to be a hard-hitting and unapologetically metal experience that will captivate old and new fans alike.

As the band gears up for the release of “Cursum Perficio” and embarks on the next chapter of their musical journey, Anthrax remains as passionate and driven as ever. With their sights set on delivering unforgettable live performances and continuing to push the boundaries of heavy metal, the band is poised to solidify their place as one of the genre’s most enduring and influential acts.
