HULDER to Release New Album ‘Verbolgen’

HULDER, an American dark black metal band, is set to release their upcoming album ‘Verbolgen’ on August 7th, 2026. This release will be a co-collaboration with 20 Buck Spin for North America and Season of Mist for the rest of the world. The album consists of nine tracks, running just over forty-eight minutes, making it HULDER’s most comprehensive work yet. ‘Verbolgen’ explores themes of ancestral memory, natural sovereignty, and ancient ritual through lyrics in English, Flemish, and Proto-Germanic.
Inspired by Scandinavian black metal traditions, ‘Verbolgen’ seamlessly blends atmospheric elements with ceremonious tones, alternating between powerful, riff-driven sections and slower, contemplative moments. The inclusion of acoustic instruments and the haunting sound of the hurdy gurdy adds depth and richness to the album. The multilingual approach to the lyrics goes beyond mere decoration, reflecting the deep engagement with mythological and folkloric narratives of pre-Christian Europe.
This release marks a significant evolution for HULDER as a band. While previously operating as a solo project, ‘Verbolgen’ sees the full incorporation of Necreon as a creative partner, moving beyond his previous contributions as a session musician. The album also features the talents of Keld on the hurdy gurdy, electric guitars, and keys, along with drum performances by Vapula and Vrolok. Additional session flute work is brought to life by Ianuaria.
