Careless Strangers Debut Gritty Single ‘Dirty Soul’ – Rock & Blues Muse
Wreckless Strangers, a San Francisco-based sextet, has recently introduced their new single, “Dirty Soul,” along with an accompanying visual display that encapsulates the essence of the song’s raw emotion. Collaborating with director Jason Lee Denton for the seventh time, the band presents a stylized representation of the untamed spirit of “Dirty Soul” through imagery that resonates with its deep emotional core.
Renowned for their unique fusion of rock, Americana, soul, and R&B, known as Ameri-Cali Rock, Wreckless Strangers showcases a visually captivating narrative that mirrors the essence of “Dirty Soul.” Penned by Amber Morris, Joshua Zucker, and the late Austin de Lone, the track serves as the title song for the band’s upcoming EP, “Dirty Souls,” produced by GRAMMY Award winner Dave Way and engineer Sean Beresford, reflecting the band’s strong ties to San Francisco’s legendary rock and soul history.
Lead vocalist Amber Morris describes “Dirty Soul” as a song about patience, acceptance, and unwavering love while maintaining individuality. The music video provided the band with the opportunity to visually explore these themes and present the complexities of such profound connections in an authentic manner.
As the band gears up for the digital release of their second EP single, “The Runaround,” written by lead vocalist David Noble on February 27, leading up to the launch of their third EP on March 27, Wreckless Strangers delves into their most candid and unfiltered body of work yet. Drawing inspiration from the classic rock sounds of the ’70s and ’80s, the EP stays true to their signature blend of Americana, soul, and R&B.
Wreckless Strangers represents a group of friends and musicians dedicated to upholding San Francisco’s grand rock ‘n’ roll legacy. Their unique fusion of “Ameri-Cali Soul” merges contemporary blues elements akin to Bonnie Raitt and Boz Scaggs, with a songwriting style reminiscent of Sons of Champlin and Fleetwood Mac. Combining the Americana vibe of the Lost Planet Airmen and Peter Rowan and the funkiness of Sly Stone and Tower of Power with a touch of Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane spices things up, adding an element of unpredictability.
Featuring Amber Morris on lead vocals, David Noble on lead guitar and vocals, Joshua Zucker on bass and vocals, Mick Hellman on drums and vocals, Rob Anderson on guitar and vocals, and Fletcher Nielsen on keys, Wreckless Strangers recently made appearances on Nashville’s WMOT Americana Roots radio station and at NAMM in Southern California.
The band’s dedication to preserving and celebrating the free-spirited musical culture of the Bay Area is evident in their harmonious vocals, passionate instrumental improvisations, and heartfelt songwriting, all encapsulated in their mission to embody the essence of musical adventure and spontaneity.
