Drowning Pool cancels tour, citing ‘logistics’ issues rather than low ticket sales
Drowning Pool has stated that the cancelation of their tour is due to “logistics,” while promoters are attributing it to “low ticket sales.”
The popular nu-metal band, widely recognized for their 2001 hit single “Bodies,” was all set to kick off their inaugural tour of South America on the 20th of May with a show in Bogota, Colombia. However, just one day before the scheduled event, they formally called off all the shows.
In a statement released by tour organizers and translated from Spanish, it was explained: “The decision to cancel the tour was a collective one made by all local promoters involved due to the disappointing ticket sales registered across all cities on the tour itinerary.
To those who have bought tickets in advance, organizers have instructed that they seek a refund directly from the ticket sales company in their respective city. For more details and specific guidance regarding the refund procedure, it is recommended to reach out to the local promoter.
The band members, including vocalist Ryan McCombs, guitarist C.J. Pierce, drummer Mike Luce, and bassist Stevie Benton, had previously indicated that the tour dates were being postponed due to logistical challenges. Pierce mentioned on the Teaser Talk podcast that there were issues with the logistics that prevented them from arriving on time for the scheduled performances.
He commented: “There’s a lot of red tape and other hindrances that came up because we couldn’t meet the deadline. So, I’m hopeful for a chance to return. I really love South America and am very eager to perform there. However, for now, that’s all up in the air.”
McCombs, on the other hand, affirmed that the band is committed to rescheduling the tour at a later date. Expressing his disappointment at the missed opportunity, he mentioned his excitement for visiting several countries in South America for the first time.
The tour was initially planned to commence on May 20 in Bogota, Colombia, and end in Coritiba, Brazil in May.
Despite the setback, fans can still catch Drowning Pool’s performance at the Download Festival next month. The band is slated to appear on the Opus Stage on June 13, the second day of the renowned rock festival.
The festival will feature headliners like Limp Bizkit, Guns N’ Roses, and Linkin Park, along with other notable acts such as Cypress Hill, Bad Omens, The Pretty Reckless, A Day To Remember, The All American Rejects, Halestorm, and Architects.
As Drowning Pool gears up to commemorate the 25th anniversary of their debut album Sinner with a reissue next month, fans can look forward to new music and electrifying live performances by the band.
