THE HU announces album ‘HUN’ and collaborates with JONNY HAWKINS from NOTHING MORE

The Mongolian folk metal group, THE HU, has recently made waves in the music scene with the official announcement of their upcoming studio album HUN and the release of their latest collaboration, “Lost Soul,” featuring Nothing More frontman Jonny Hawkins.

“Lost Soul,” which was dropped on May 20, showcases THE HU’s innovative fusion of traditional Mongolian sounds with contemporary rock influences, tribal beats, and an electrifying live performance energy. The track begins with an entrancing rhythmic beat before Hawkins’ strong melodic vocals come into play. From there, the song explodes into a mix of heavy guitars, tribal drums, and the band’s signature Mongolian throat singing style that has set them apart in the metal genre.

The band members explained that “Lost Soul” aims to convey themes of resilience, personal strength, and staying true to oneself in the face of life’s challenges. Galaa, the vocalist and morin khuur player, emphasized the importance of maintaining one’s values and identity throughout life’s journey and how these messages are woven into the song and the upcoming album.

On the collaboration, Jonny Hawkins shared his enthusiasm for working with THE HU, noting that it was a unique and exciting experience for him. The band’s upcoming album HUN, set for release on July 24 via Better Noise Music, will be their first full-length album since 2022’s Rumble of Thunder, which helped solidify their global presence.

Included in the album are some previously released tracks like “The Real You”, “The Men”, and “Warrior Chant”. However, the version of “Lost Soul” featuring Jonny Hawkins will only be available in the digital edition of the album.

THE HU gained international acclaim with hits such as “Wolf Totem” and “Yuve Yuve Yu,” attracting a diverse fan base across the globe. Their unique blend of Mongolian musical traditions with metal structures has made them one of the most distinctive and innovative acts in modern metal. The band has collaborated with artists like Papa Roach and Halestorm, appeared in popular video games, performed at major festivals, and embarked on large-scale tours, connecting with audiences worldwide.

Currently, THE HU is gearing up for a tour with Apocalyptica and preparing for the summer “Freaks on Parade” tour featuring Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson. The group continues to break new ground in the folk metal genre, solidifying their position as one of the most boundary-pushing bands in the industry.
