Charli XCX debuts new video featuring runway show and clarifies ‘b-sides’ idea for upcoming album
Charli XCX recently released a new music video for her song “SS26,” which brought back memories of shooting another video called “Von dutch.” The video was shot in Paris with the directing duo known as TORSO. Charli expressed how shooting this video gave her flashbacks to balancing on the wing of a plane for the “Von dutch” video but this time, she had to balance in platform heels, which she found fabulous yet equally challenging. She mentioned that shooting this video felt like coming full circle with the song being made in Paris.
Throughout the video, Charli flaunts various glamorous outfits as she walks down a fashion show runway and gets ready backstage. The video takes an unexpected turn when the lyric “Yeah we’re walking on a runway that goes straight to hell” becomes apparent as models are seen walking off the runway and falling into nothingness.
Charli shared that the b-side to “SS26” is a song called “Playboy Bunny” which will only be available Saturday on her b.sides account and as a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl record. She plans to release a b-side for all the songs leading up to her new album. Charli explained that while working on her album, she made a few songs that felt like they belonged in the world of the album but wouldn’t make it onto the album. She mentioned not planning to release those songs on streaming platforms.
The video and the concept of b-sides add dimension to Charli XCX’s music and creative vision. The fashion-forward visuals and experimental nature of her work continue to captivate audiences and showcase her unique style and artistry. Fans can look forward to more releases and surprises as Charli XCX continues to push boundaries and explore new artistic territories.
