Bruce Dickinson debuts acclaimed music video for ‘Tears Of The Dragon’
Bruce Dickinson has recently released an award-winning new video for his classic track ‘Tears of the Dragon.’ Shot in Brazil after his performance at The Town Festival in São Paulo, the epic film was directed by Leo Liberti and Antoine de Montremy. The video was created to accompany the re-working of the song featured on his album ‘More Balls To Picasso’ from 1994.
Filmed at a disused brewery in São Paulo with a full film crew, Bruce Dickinson, along with his House Band of Hell, teamed up with the Almai orchestra, conducted by Antonio Teoli, to produce a dramatic video for the iconic track. Teoli and the orchestra added a fresh dimension to the atmospheric ballad, featured in the studio re-recording of the song. The video showcases the orchestra’s performance, alongside Bruce and Brazilian ballet dancer Renata Bardazi, creating a powerful and emotionally charged film that has been well received at film festivals globally.
Bruce shared his thoughts on the video, explaining, “When we reimagined the whole More Balls To Picasso album, we always wanted to do an orchestral version of ‘Tears Of The Dragon.’ Antonio Teoli scored it, and we recorded it. Then we called up the filmmaker Leo Liberti, who previously shot live performances for me in Brazil. We found an incredible location, a massive old brewery that resembled a renaissance building, and we had the orchestra dressed to look slightly zombified. All the HBOH band members participated in the video, each playing instruments. It was a brilliantly mad experience. Leo also had the idea of including a ballet dancer to interpret the song, adding an extra emotional dimension to the video.”
The new video has already received accolades, winning Best Music Video at several international Film Festivals. Additional awards and nominations include Los Angeles Film Festival IAF, Los Angeles Film Awards, New York International Film Awards, Eastern Europe Film Festival, Sweden Luleå International Film Festival, World Premiere Films Awards, and Asian Independent Film Festival, among others. The video has been nominated for awards at Cannes Film Awards, Cannes World Film Festival, International Sound & Film Festival, Rome Prisma Film Awards, Tokyo Lift-Off Film Festival, Filmmaker Sessions, and New York Short Cinema Awards.
Fans can now watch the award-winning video for ‘Tears of the Dragon’ to experience the emotional depth and unique interpretation brought to life by Bruce Dickinson and his team in Brazil.
