Boundaries intensify brutality with new single ‘Only Endless’
Boundaries have once again proven their unrelenting aggression with the release of their latest single, ‘Only Endless,’ and its accompanying video. This brutal track is a preview of their upcoming fourth full-length album, ‘Yearning: the unbeautiful after,’ set to drop on July 17th through Sumerian Records.
While their previous singles, ‘Death will follow me’ and ‘Skies cast amber black,’ delved deep into themes of grief and rage, ‘Only Endless’ takes on a slightly different tone. According to vocalist Matthew McDougal, this track is less about direct confrontation and more about observation.
McDougal shared, “Much of the record poses questions to listeners, probing if they identify with the sentiment of what’s been said and why they do or don’t. ‘Only Endless’ doesn’t ask anything of the listener. It describes a feeling. You can take what you will from it.”
‘Only Endless’ is just one piece of the puzzle that is ‘Yearning: the unbeautiful after,’ a record that promises to showcase Boundaries at their most aggressive and focused yet. Produced by Drew Fulk, who has worked with heavyweights like Knocked Loose and Fit For A King, this album aims to make a statement in the current landscape of heavy music.
According to McDougal, “With the record, we aimed to be uncompromising and really plant our flag. As more time passes, heavy music continues to lose its teeth. This genre is supposed to be threatening; it should have an edge and make you feel something. We tried to create an album with urgency.”
Not only does the new album feature the raw intensity Boundaries are known for, but it also includes guest appearances from industry heavyweights like Make Them Suffer and The Plot In You’s Landon Tewers. These collaborations further solidify Boundaries’ position within the modern metalcore scene, pushing boundaries and exploring darker, emotionally charged territory.
Since their debut with ‘Your Receding Warmth’ in 2020, Boundaries have quickly risen to prominence within the heavy music community. Their ability to seamlessly blend crushing heaviness with haunting melodies and emotive songwriting has earned them acclaim and respect.
