Weezer recently unveiled details about their latest project, which marks their impressive 20th studio album. This upcoming self-titled record, fondly referred to as “The Gold Album” due to its striking gold cover art, is set to be released on August 21st through Reprise/Warner Records.

The initial offering from the album is the track “We Might As Well Be Strangers,” a collaborative effort with indie rock band Wednesday that showcases vocals from Rivers Cuomo alongside Wednesday frontwoman Karly Hartzman.

The creation process for this album took place in Orange County, with acclaimed producers Klas Ã…hlund and Kenneth Blume at the helm. Following a successful Blue Album tour that marked the band’s 30th anniversary, Weezer came together to write new material in a rehearsal space, marking a return to their collaborative roots after several decades.

Fans can also look forward to an exciting North American fall tour featuring beloved acts such as The Shins and Silversun Pickups, adding to the anticipation surrounding Weezer’s upcoming album release.
