Cro-Mags release their first new song in six years, titled “Wired For Chaos”
After six years, Cro-Mags have made their triumphant return with the release of a brand-new single titled “Wired For Chaos.” This track marks the band’s first piece of music in six years and also signals their debut release on the BLKIIBLK label, a part of the Frontiers Label Group. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Arthur Rizk, who has worked with the likes of Power Trip, Code Orange, and Cavalera Conspiracy, the song was also co-produced by Harley Flanagan himself. Adding to the mix is drummer Greyson Nekrutman, whose skills elevate the track to another level.
The inspiration behind the song’s title comes from the 2025 documentary similarly titled “Wired For Chaos,” which delves into the compelling and often tumultuous life story of Harley Flanagan. The band, currently under Flanagan’s leadership, is set to embark on a substantial European tour this summer. They are scheduled to grace the stage at various festivals and shows alongside notable acts such as Biohazard, Sepultura, and at events like Hellfest and Rebellion Festival.
Regarding the new single, Flanagan shares his thoughts on the accompanying video, drawing parallels to their debut video from forty years ago, “We Gotta Know.” He takes pride in the band’s ability to bridge the gap between different subcultures within the heavy music scene, attracting fans from various backgrounds such as hard-core enthusiasts, metalheads, punks, and more. This ability to bring together a diverse audience is a testament to the band’s legacy.
The track itself showcases a blend of aggressive metal elements that would not be out of place in a UFC entrance or a video game. It seamlessly transitions into a more traditional hardcore thrash sound before culminating in a heavy beatdown reminiscent of classic Cro-Mags style. The central theme of the song revolves around the idea of being inherently programmed and wired for chaos from birth. Flanagan delves into personal struggles stemming from parents, childhood trauma, and experiences leading to lasting effects like PTSD, which he candidly shares in the lyrics.
With a string of tour dates lined up across Europe, including stops in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, and more, Cro-Mags are poised to bring their electrifying live show to fans far and wide.
