Ira Black, a seasoned guitarist known for his work with iconic bands like Vio-Lence, Metal Church, I Am Morbid, and Lizzy Borden, has embarked on an innovative musical journey with the inception of his new project, Apocælypse. The band has recently dropped their first single, “Intell-I-Gents”, providing a glimpse into an upcoming album comprising ten songs slated for release later this year.

In a departure from his established identity as a shredder, Black assumes multiple roles as the vocalist, songwriter, and chief creative force behind Apocælypse. “Intell-I-Gents” blends the heaviness of industrial metal with electronic elements, tackling themes of artificial intelligence and digital surveillance. Commenting on the track, Black reflects on the increasing dominance of machines in everyday life, where convenience blurs into consent and intelligence dictates societal norms. The song serves as a reflection of contemporary society, questioning the balance of power in a world intertwined with technology.

Featuring a mix of seasoned talent and a fresh wave of creativity, the lineup includes Black’s son, guitarist Ira Black IV, renowned bassist Matt Snell formerly of Five Finger Death Punch, and skilled drummer Lonny Pasillas from Kill Devil Hill. To ensure a powerful sound, the band collaborated with acclaimed producer Kane Churko, known for his work with legends like Ozzy Osbourne and Disturbed, while the mastering of the tracks was expertly handled by Maor Appelbaum.

The release of “Intell-I-Gents” is complemented by a visually striking music video directed by Vicente Cordero of Industrialism Films, underscoring Apocælypse’s readiness to embrace the future fearlessly. The single is available for streaming across various digital platforms, with more releases and tour plans set to be announced in the coming months.

Apocælypse’s debut promises a unique blend of musical prowess, thematic depth, and visual artistry. With “Intell-I-Gents”, the band invites listeners to contemplate the evolving relationship between humanity and technology, setting the stage for a thought-provoking and dynamic album release.
